Trying to create art, we invented a building material, and the building material turned out to be art.

Fragment Incorporated d.o.o. is a start-up company that specializes in the production of innovative building materials. In our factory, we have perfected the production of panels made from recycled glass as the primary raw material, using cement and additives as a binder. Fragment panels offer entrepreneurs, architects, interior and exterior designers, as well as furniture manufacturers, a new, sustainable and aesthetically unique material.

The idea for Fragment panels originated during preparations for one of the exhibitions of our artist Marija Marković. Pavle Milošević, an entrepreneur and sustainability advocate, joined Marija in further developing the idea. They discovered that glass and cement are incompatible materials by nature and difficult to bond. This phenomenon intrigued them, so further research led them to scientific papers by professors from the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy in Belgrade. The result of this fusion of artistic instinct, scientific experience, and business orientation is the Fragment panel, a new material for a new generation of consumers.

PROCESS
3 years in
the research
Over 2000 experiments

We spent three years in the research and development phase, conducting over two thousand experiments. Finally, we proudly entered the market, convinced that our product is not only aesthetically fascinating and environmentally responsible, but also boasts outstanding technical performance.

The complex technology used to cast Fragment panel guarantees a unique aesthetic. This is not just a phrase as no one can predict the exact position of glass elements in the finished product. In this sense, each of our panels are unique.

Our goal is to intercept some of the local glass waste and use it as the primary raw material for Fragment panels, giving new life to discarded beer and wine bottles, jam and honey jars. The glass content in our product is 73%!

The experience so far has shown that Fragment panels can be used for both interior and exterior design. Once cast and processed, our panels can be used for all types of surfaces, including table tops, decorative walls, fireplaces, kitchen and work surfaces, fountains, garden furniture, windowsills, and bar counters. The possibilities are endless.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT / R&D

In 2020 the Fragment team secured a grant from the Innovation Fund and partnered with Science and Technology Park in Čačak to begin their journey towards creating a stable and aesthetically pleasing product.

With over 2,000 experiments and 18,000 laboratory measurements, the Fragment team has successfully developed a panel material that exceeds industry standards.

The formulation for the Fragment panel consists of 73% glass, along with 15 specific additives, 3 rare materials, and cement. The Fragment team developed the product in their laboratory with the help of a machine for compressive and flexural strength, a penetrometer, a rheometer, a Mohs scratching instrument, and in the laboratory of the Innovation Center of the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy in Belgrade.

These instruments and facilities were crucial in the team's research and development process, which included testing for various parameters and measurements to ensure the quality and stability of the Fragment panels.
The custom-made machines developed by the team of over 10 engineers and 4 partner companies were designed specifically for scaling up the production of Fragment panels..

The Fragment team is proud to have protected its intellectual property and scaled up production from experimental to functional.

Experience innovation, development, sustainability and beauty with Fragment panel, a revolutionary product that pushes the industry norm.

Director

Pavle Milošević is an entrepreneur and sustainability advocate with a diverse educational background, including a degree in economic analysis and politics from the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade, and studies in international economics and the Chinese language at the University for International Business and Economy in Beijing.Through his work managing projects in the chemical industry and his travels through China, Pavle developed a strong commitment to sustainability and environmentalism. In 2019, he founded Fragment Incorporated doo, a start-up that produces high-quality glass panels using recycled "waste glass" and innovative technology that prevents an alkali-silicate reaction known as the "cancer of concrete." The Fragment team has received funding and support from a range of institutions, including Innovation fond Serbia, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, and the World Bank.
